Wichita Wineries for Wine and Cheese Day - J.P. Weigand & Sons, Inc.

Wine and cheese pair together so perfectly. There's nothing quite like a creamy blue cheese with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc or a slice of cheddar paired with good Merlot. If you love wine and cheese as much as we do, you'll want to celebrate National Wine and Cheese Day on July 25th. Take a break from looking at Wichita homes for sale, and stop by one of these local destinations.

  • Jenny Dawn Cellars: 703 Douglas Ave. Ste 180, Wichita, KS 67202
Jenny Dawn Cellars opened in 2016 and has become a mainstay in the Wichita area. They partner with wine facilitators in Napa, CA, and source their grapes from growers in California and Kansas.

Jenny Dawn Cellars serves many of its wines by the glass in their tasting room. You can even order a wine flight and try five 2-ounce pours at once. Pair your wine with a charcuterie board, and you have the perfect setup for Wine and Cheese Day. Their large Charcuterie plate comes with cured meats, cheeses, dried fruit, jam, naan bread, and crackers.

  • Wyldwood Cellars: 7130 W. Maple St. #250, Wichita, KS 67209
Wyldwood Cellars is a family-owned winery. They grow their grapes just outside Wichita in the town of Peck and operate a tasting room in the heart of Wichita. The Lady Pearl wine won Best of Class and Gold at the 2018 New World International Wine Competition. Several other wines have been winners, too.

When you visit Wyldwood Cellars, you can opt to do a tasting, or you can order wine by the glass. Since they have so many unique wines made with elderberries and other alternative fruits, a tasting is highly recommended.

  • Grace Hill Winery: 6310 S. Grace Hill Rd., Whitewater, KS 67154
If you're looking at Whitewater homes for sale, then Grace Hill Winery is just minutes away and well worth a visit. They have live music most weekends, and you can walk through the vineyards during your visit.

The tasting room at Grace Hill serves samples and glasses of all their wines, including the Black Out, a blended red wine aged in bourbon barrels. You can order a meat and cheese tray to pair with your wine. The 3-Cheese Grilled Cheese, made with cheddar, provolone, and mozzarella, is also delicious.

  • Alzavino Wine Tavern: 1001 W. Douglas Ave., Wichita, KS 67213
Alzavino Wine Tavern is a cozy wine bar where you'll feel welcomed and pampered as you sip your favorite wine. They serve a long list of wines, including vintages from the Napa Valley, Washington, France, and Australia. They also serve beer—in case anyone in your crew isn't a wine drinker.

Alzavino Wine Tavern has a great selection of appetizers to enjoy with your wine. Their Fruit & Cheese platter is a top choice and features seasonal fruits.

  • Simply Sangria: 243 N. Cleveland, Wichita, KS 67214
