Wichita Dining: Kick Up the Heat

There's just something about spicy food that's irresistible. January 16th is International Hot and Spicy Food Day, so what better way to celebrate than by going to a restaurant that lets you indulge in that heat you crave?

But when you're moving to a new area, it can be difficult to know which restaurants will fill your needs. There are plenty of Wichita homes for sale, but are there any spicy restaurants nearby? There are. Here are a few of our favorites in the area.

• Thai House - 969 N. West St., Wichita, KS 67203
  Family-owned and operated, Thai House prides itself on delicious homemade food cooked from scratch that's as spicy as it is mouth-watering. Thai spices give their food that signature heat in dishes like Paad Krapow (stir fry with chilis and sweet basil) and Gaeng-Khiao-Wan (Thai green curry paste). When browsing the menu, look for the diamond icons next to various items. One diamond means it's hot and spicy. Two diamonds mean it's extra hot and spicy.
  
  
• Headz & Tailz - 301 Washington N, Wichita, KS 67202
  A Cajun-style seafood restaurant, Headz & Tailz is known for serving up the spice, from crawfish to Banh Hoi, to Riel saucy lobster, and more. They also serve unique and delicious cocktails, such as a jackfruit martini and a dragonfruit mojito. Open Tuesday through Sunday, they offer both dine-in and customer pickup.
  
  
• Crutch BBQ - 550 N Rock Rd. #105, Wichita, KS 67206
  This barbecue restaurant is one of the best places in Kansas to get Nashville hot chicken. Crutch BBQ's Nashville hot chicken biscuit sandwiches are served several ways, including cheddar, bacon, and sausage gravy, or with garlic aioli and red cabbage slaw. They also serve ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and a variety of other delicious barbecue staples.
  
  
• Yokohama Ramen Joint - 613 W. Douglas Ave. Ste A, Wichita, KS 67213
  If you're looking for spicy ramen, Yokohama Ramen Joint is where you want to go. The spicy beef tongue ramen is their chef's secret recipe that was featured on the Food Network. And their spicy garlic yakisoba has cabbage and red ginger, along with your choice of chicken, pork, or shrimp. Dine in, or order from DoorDash or Postmates. And check out their newly opened second location, Yokohama Ramen Izakaya.
  
  
• Passage to India - 6100 E. 21st St. N, Wichita, KS 67208
  If you're looking for authentic and delicious Indian cuisine with the perfect amount of heat, check out Passage to India. Dishes like Tandori chicken and chili naan will leave your mouth watering. Open Tuesday through Sunday, they serve lunch from 11 am to 2:30 pm, then close until 5 pm, when they reopen for dinner.
  
  
• Krispy's Fried Chicken & Seafood - 3009 S. Hillside Ave., Wichita, KS 67216
  This list wouldn't be complete without hot wings, and Krispy's Fried Chicken & Seafood is the place to go for them. Get your wings in either a 5-, 10-, or 20-piece meal and add some jalapeno poppers for good measure. They also serve shrimp, catfish, po'boy sandwiches, chicken and waffles, and a host of other delicious menu options. Open Monday through Saturday, 11 am to 8 pm.
