Holiday Light Displays - Wichita - J.P. Weigand & Sons, Inc.

The holidays will soon be here, and the Wichita area will come alive with lights. Driving around to see decorative holiday lights is a wonderful pastime. You can sing your favorite holiday songs on the way and maybe even stop for a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Here are some of the top spots our real estate agents recommend seeing holiday lights this year.

  • Illuminations at Botanica Wichita: 701 N. Amidon St., Wichita, KA 67203
Illuminations is an annual holiday light celebration that takes place at Botanica Wichita. This year, it's scheduled through January 1. From 5:30 - 8:30 each evening, you can drive through the Botanical Gardens and admire various light displays. There's a second set of walk-through displays, too.

The cost is $20 per carload Sunday - Thursday and $25 Friday and Saturday. There's an additional per-person fee for the walk-through displays.

  • Reindeer Road: 941 N. Firefly St. Wichita, KA 67235
If you're out looking at Wichita homes for sale close to dark, then take a drive through this neighborhood when you're through. The neighbors all work together to decorate their homes and yards for the holiday season. There are enormous reindeer displays in a few of the yards! Reindeer Road participants typically set their lights up at the end of November and leave them in place through New Year's Eve.

  • Christmas at the McKinneys': 1425 N. Coolidge St., Wichita, KS 67203
Is there a family in Wichita that loves the holidays more than the McKinneys? Not if you're judging based on lights displays! Each year, this family decorates their home and yard with more than 150,000 lights. They generally get some of their neighbors to participate, too.

Admission is free, of course, but the McKinneys do welcome donations, which they pass on to the Kansas Human Society and Human Kind charities. The lights are typically on from 5:30 - 10 pm from the end of November through New Year's Eve.

  • 9th Street Lights: 3821 W. 9th St., Wichita, KS 67203
Ninth Street really gets into the holiday spirit each year. Not only do they decorate with thousands of dancing lights, but they hold a light show to music each evening, too. You can sit and enjoy tunes like "Carol of the Bells" as you bask in the glow of the light displays. Admission is free!

  • The Arc's Lights: Douglas & Paul Streets, Wichita, KS 67202
The Arc of Sedgwick County hosts its annual light event to raise money for folks with developmental disabilities. In 2020, they set a record for the most lights, and they plan on including even more in 2021. You drive through the displays, and the cost is $10 per carload.

One of the key attractions at The Arc's Lights is the Tunnel of Lights, which makes you feel like you're driving through a glistening wonderland. The event runs through December.

  • Carols on the Court: 1358 N. Aksarben Ct., Wichita, KS 67235
Carols on the Court is an interactive, computerized light show. You can tune your radio to 100.5 FM to listen to holiday music as the lights move, and you can even vote for the next song on the show's website. The show runs Thursday - Sunday through December 31.

The beautiful light displays are one of the best things about living in Wichita during the holiday season. If you're new to the area and looking for a place to call home, contact us. Our helpful real estate agents can guide you through the home-buying process.
