Why replace when you can simply paint? Here are some important steps to ensure the best results. 

1. Plan Carefully 
   The two possible methods have dramatic differences in cost, energy, and result. The choice of professionals is spray painting, while most homeowners choose the brush method. Spraying means a smoother finish, quicker drying times, and more durable results. Lacquers applied with a gun dry quickly, decreasing work time, and stand up to cleaning much longer than brush-on paints. Lacquers require application by spray gun and a compressor. It's necessary to protect everything from overspray. Adequate ventilation is vital. Brush-on paints are generally less expensive and require normal masking and drop cloths without clouds of overspray. Drying time between coats averages 24 hours, and they require more sanding for a smooth finish.
